Biography

Ashley Hogan is a dedicated and multilingual educator with a deep-rooted passion for teaching. She recently completed her seventh year at Emma Donnan Middle School. Ashley’s commitment to education is a family tradition. She is a third-generation educator inspired by her late grandmother, who taught for over 25 years, and her father, a former school principal. She has recently been honored as one of the 2025 Indianapolis Public Schools Teachers of the Year, a testament to her exceptional contributions to her students and community.

Ashley graduated from Ball State University with a dual bachelor's degree in early childhood education and special education. She furthered her education by earning a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Arizona State University. Her academic journey, marked by overcoming the challenges of an Individualized Education Program (IEP), fuels her dedication to showing students that they can overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.

As a general education teacher, Ashley strongly advocates differentiated teaching and reflective practices, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. She believes that tailoring instruction to meet her students' diverse needs is essential for their success. Her teaching philosophy is built on empathy, perseverance, and continuous improvement.

Over the past two years, Ashley's leadership and innovative teaching methods have led her eighth-grade students to surpass their expectations. Adelante Chief of Schools Matthew Rooney noted that Ashley’s influence extends beyond academic achievement. She is celebrated for inspiring a diverse population of students, instilling in them the confidence to strive for excellence. Rooney praises her as a consummate professional and an innovative leader, highlighting her as Adelante Schools' unanimous choice for IPS Teacher of the Year.
